Hi,
I grew up in a food family. My parents owned Sally Ling's. For years it was the most celebrated Chinese restaurant in Boston. Five stars, full room, the whole thing.
But the food I loved most wasn't on that menu.
It was my mother's home cooking. Steamed buns after school. And Sunday afternoons at my grandmother's house, where the whole family would gather around the table, wrap dumplings together, and just eat. Those afternoons are some of the happiest memories I have.
When I started Dumpling Daughter in 2014, I wasn't trying to recreate a restaurant. I wanted to share those exact recipes. The ones passed from my grandmother to my mother to me. With people who never had easy access to that kind of food.
